“Art Partners, before it became Art Partners Studio, was the community partnership program of the Chester Springs Studio,” said founding director, Lindsay Brinton. “We wanted to partner artists with the community and area schools.”
One of the program’s longest lasting partnerships has been with Coatesville’s youth, beginning with art camps in the village of Chester Springs’ Historic Yellow Springs.
The program then came to Coatesville. It created the mosaic mural at Ash Park at the Brandywine YMCA’s request and started giving classes at Oak Street. It then established a storefront studio in 1998 and became a separate non-profit organization twelve years ago.
The recent move to the former Benner School across East Lincoln Highway has given it space to add a media lab, two studios, offices, and a 300-book art library.
According to Brinton, the mission to become a permanent art resource has been a resounding success.
“The studio is on the upswing,” she said. “I am convinced we’re here to stay.”
