This is the tenth group of inductees since the organization’s inception and is headlined by the winning coach-player combo of James ‘Scoogie’ Smith and John Allen. The pair helped deliver the only boys’ state basketball title for Coatesville sixteen years ago.
The list also includes John Joe, a member of legendary Coatesville’s football family, and Andy Toth, a Coatesville native who starred on the basketball court in West Chester. They join West Chester University stars Ralph Tamm, Joe Iezzi, and Robert Reese and coaches Cyrus Jones and Becky Desmond.
The group is rounded out with Downingtown football star Arlen Harris, umpire Scott Graham, and Bishop Shanahan’s 1985 state champion boys’ basketball team.
According to CCSHOF President, Jerry Schneider, the makeup of this year’s class emphasizes Coatesville’s rich tradition in athletics. “I think it had to do with the Lukens Steel Company, and the families they brought to Coatesville.”
The celebration banquet will be at Downingtown Country Club on November 11.
