The National Iron & Steel Heritage Museum will present its 12th annual Rebecca Lukens Award to renowned historic preservationist and museum management consultant, Janet S. Klein.
The award was established by the Graystone Society to honor individuals who exhibit the qualities of Rebecca Lukens.
Klein was an early supporter of Terracina through the William Penn Foundation Grant and has proved vital in the restoration of Lukens National Historic District’s first historic home.
“Terracina showed tremendous potential as an historic house museum with great heritage and a solid nucleus of supporters,” said Klein.
Klein, a University of Pennsylvania graduate, is known in many historic arenas. She is recognized for inspiring and promoting the Fairmount Park house tours for the Philadelphia Museum of Art and other historic projects such as The Liberty Trail.
Throughout her preservation efforts, she has worked in numerous organizations and businesses, including Philadelphia Historical Commission Historic Designation Committee, Abraham Lincoln Foundation of the Union League of Philadelphia, Rosenbach Museum and Library, and Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.
The award will be presented to Klein on May 31 at a reception in the Lukens National Historic District.
