The community is invited to an awards ceremony on Wednesday, May 30 from 6-7:30 PM at Citadel’s Thorndale branch, where members of the Coatesville Area Youth Philanthropy Program, an initiative of the Brandywine Health Foundation, will recognize two nonprofits that provide behavioral health and resiliency building programming to the greater Coatesville area.
Light refreshments will be served.
The Coatesville Area Youth Philanthropy Program enables teens to learn more about the needs of their community, learn how to make a difference, experience diversity and teamwork through collaboration, and to become actual philanthropists.
The CAYPP’s endeavors are funded by a generous donation from Citadel. Each year, the youth in the program have $15,000 to disburse to nonprofits they have selected.
“Putting dollars into their hands and letting them figure out what to do with it, as opposed to just a hypothetical classroom exercise, is brilliant,” said Jeff March, Citadel’s CEO and a graduate of Coatesville High School.
“For high school students to be able to not only think about how to improve their community but to actually be able to take steps to make an impact will, hopefully, lay a foundation for them that will live with them throughout their lives.”
