Coatesville High School track stars, juniors Arianna Eberly and Porsha Miles have finished their successful PIAA spring season by securing team gold medal in the Class AAA girls’ 4×400 relay, writes Bruce Adams for PA Prep Live.
The Coatesville team was in sixth place at the midway point before Eberly and then Miles took over. By the end of the ace, the Red Raiders were securely in first.
“When I got the baton, I just took off until I saw Porsha,” said Eberly. “By the first 200 meters, I had moved into first place.”
“My first reaction when I finished was, surprisingly, that I wasn’t shocked that we won,” added Miles. “It was more of a ‘Finally!’ feeling. I knew we had the ability and the talent to win.”
For Eberly and Miles, the 2018 Daily Local News’ Girls Track Co-Athletes of the Year, the 4×400 gold medals finished a stunning spring. Over the season they also showed the record-setting versatility of the Coatesville squad, including dominating the 4×400m relay, 4×100m, 300m hurdles, 100m dash, and the 200m.
