The Coatesville High School football team defeated North Penn, 42-13, last Friday to win its second consecutive PIAA Class 6A District One championship, writes Rick O’Brien for the Philadelphia Inquirer.
The win came from a high-octane offense led by quarterback Ricky Ortega and halfback Aaron Young and a defense that stood firm, limiting the Knights to one score through three quarters.
“We pressured their quarterback much of the game, didn’t give him much time to throw, and did a nice job of keeping their running backs in check,” said senior defensive end Jimmy Limper.
Limper and fellow end Tione Holmes both registered two solo sacks and combined for another, while Eric Kirk had the final sack of the night.
“Jimmy Limper and Tione Holmes were monsters for us,” said Red Raiders coach Matt Ortega.
Coatesville now faces District Three champion Harrisburg, which the Red Raiders beat in their season opener, on Saturday in Hershey. The winner advances to the state final.
