Lincoln University administrator Nikoia Forde is one of the Philadelphia Business Journal’s 10 Millennials to Watch in Higher Education, writes Michelle Caffrey.
Forde, the director of the office of undergraduate admissions at her alma mater, found herself building a career in academia by happenstance.
“I intended to pursue a career in behavioral neuroscience after receiving my bachelor’s degree,” she said. “As fate would have it, my mentor made a recommendation for a position at my alma mater, and this was the beginning of my life-changing journey.”
Forde noted that working in academia in Greater Philadelphia is full of advantages.
“Greater Philadelphia is a melting pot comprised of rich talent with intellectual dexterity and dynamic personalities,” she said. “Students are actively seeking opportunities to advance despite their circumstances, and I am proud to be in a position to help them with achieving their goals.”
