Coatesville Area Senior High School student, Emily Allen, took first place at the annual high school art contest organized by the Domestic Violence Center of Chester County, according to a staff report from Daily Local News.
The winners were announced during a reception at the Chester County Art Association. Her painting will be used as the invitation design for the DVCCC annual Gala Fund raiser which will place in March. Allen has also donated her winning artwork to be auctioned off during the fund-raising gala.
“It’s awesome to see my art on something professional,” said Allen. “It’s very surreal. It was great to have my art create positive change in the community and to help people rise up against negative things in their life.”
A cash reward was also provided by the contest organizers to the Art Department of Coatesville Area Senior High. This is for the art teachers who work so hard to ensure that students at Coatesville Area Senior High School are recognized in the community for their artistic talent.
