Coatesville artist Kristen “Kris” Berlin is drawn to nature, and finds inspiration from the animals she paints in watercolor and ink often in whimsical way, writes Courtney H. Diener-Stokes for Reading Eagle.
Berlin got her special connection with nature early on, spending most of her time playing outdoors. Years later as adults, Berlin and husband Joseph always find ways to immerse themselves in nature.
“It’s just so beautiful and vast, and I find it very inspirational,” said Berlin.
Berlin discovered her love for art during the time she spent drawing after coming home from school while growing up in Coatesville.
The artist, who has a dog and two cats, combined her love of animals with her penchant for drawing and painting, to develop her own style defined as art realism. But she also likes to incorporate other aspects into her paintings that allow viewers to interpret them for themselves.
“I try to make it a little more whimsical if I can,” she said.
