N.C. State senior Michael Boykin, who wrestled his way to a state championship in 2014 at Coatesville High School, recently capped his collegiate wrestling career by qualifying for the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio.
Boykin wrestled at 197 pounds as a freshman and sophomore with the Wolfpack. He then stepped up in weight to wrestle at 285 pounds as a junior and senior.
At the NCAA championships in mid-March, Boykin defeated Eastern Michigan’s Gage Hutchison in the first round before falling to Penn State’s Nick Nevills in the second round and Edinboro’s William Miller in the consolation rounds.
Boykin – who is majoring in Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Management at N.C. State – finished the 2017-18 season ranked No. 14 in the nation at 285 pounds by FloWrestling.com.
The Coatesville native compiled a 75-40 record during his four years with the Wolfpack.
