An excellent regular season for the Coatesville High School football team has ensured that the Red Raiders are the favorites as they enter the postseason, writes Todd Thorpe for The Doylestown Intelligencer.
The defending District One champions have it all this year, including talent, experience, and an impressive resume.
The team has steamrolled its opposition. The closest margin of victory was a 35-19 win over Cumberland Valley in September. Coatesville beat Downingtown West, the fourth seed in the tournament, 42-14, and 10th seed Downingtown East, 42-7.
Starting quarterback Ricky Ortega has thrown for 1,736 yards with 29 touchdowns and two interceptions. He’s also rushed for 575 yards and eight more scores.
Michigan State recruit Aaron Young has rushed for 996 yards and 22 touchdowns.
