The Coatesville Area School District has started the #CoatesvilleKindness campaign to promote kindness throughout its schools, according to a report from the Daily Local News.
As part of the campaign, North Brandywine Middle School has been participating in monthly activities, with the latest being Buddy Bags.
“Buddy Bags are a goodie bag that you can buy for a teacher or a friend as a kind gesture,” said Brandon Perez-Castro, treasurer of student council.
Students could buy the Buddy Bags during lunch periods and fill out an order form for one of the available snacks. The entire initiative was student-run and more than 100 Buddy Bags were purchased.
“From the order forms, we spent two lunch periods filling the orders and organizing them by grades for an easy delivery system,” said Rebecca Fries, a member of student council.
Jaimie Blankley, student council advisor and North Brandywine health and physical education teacher, said that the opportunity to involve all grades in a positive, school-wide activity was great.
